DIETETIC INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center's Dietetic Internship Program is a general emphasis program, 42 weeks in length. The mission is to provide a diverse training program of exceptional quality for dietetic interns that yield competent entry-level dietitians. Upon successful completion of the program, interns are eligible to apply to take the Registration Examination to become Registered Dietitians.
The program includes a variety of field trips and classes on food management, clinical and community nutrition topics to augment the practical learning experiences. The classes and field trips are provided jointly with the Greater Los Angeles Dietetic Internship Consortium to provide opportunity to network and share experiences with other interns. Most of the training occurs at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar; however, additional training is provided at affiliate sites, including WIC, Head Start, AIDS Project LA, and the Sherman Oaks Burn Center.
The Food & Nutrition Services Department provides services for the entire medical center including Café, catering and Meals on Wheels service for the community. The department is managed by Morrison Management Specialists and is professionally staffed with 7 dietitians and 5 managers. This site serves as the Regional Learning Center for all new Morrison managers.
