OLIVE VIEW-UCLA MEDICAL CENTER
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center is one of the five Los Angeles County Public Hospitals. It is located 25 miles north of Los Angeles. The hospital has served the San Fernando Valley since 1920. A modern acute care hospital was constructed on the 535 acre site in 1970. Just four months after its opening, the hospital was destroyed by the February 9, 1971 earthquake. In 1987, the replacement building was opened. This 377 bed acute care hospital offers emergency care and in-patient and out-patient services that include general and specialty care in medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics and psychiatry. The majority of the patients admitted to the hospital are acutely ill with significant need for nutritional intervention. A comprehensive range of out-patient services are offered at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and its outlying clinics.
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center provides a variety of training programs to medical and nursing staff, dietetic and pharmacy students and other health care providers. Because Olive View-UCLA is a teaching facility, affiliated with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the interns work closely with physicians and other health care providers and participate in patient care rounds to ensure continuity of patient care.
